2015 I am the Forest and the Forest Is Me Native trees, Instalation size variable.
25 trees, native to New Zealand were installed in the exhibition Dealing with Misanthropy held at Pearce Gallery in 2015. Members of the audience were invited to take a tree home with them and plant it on behalf of the artist. In exchange, the guests would write down their email adress so the final location of each tree could be recorded. The artist needed to plant 25 trees in order to offset her carbon footprint for that year. This project was inspired by the Maori proverb ‘Ko au te awa. Ko te awa ko au' (I am the river. The river is me).
